General Questions

What is Permanent Jewelry?

With over 2 BILLION views on TikTok, and a 9,900% increase in web searches, permanent jewelry is one of the most newly sought after services today.

Why the popularity? We've all experienced the heartbreak of losing a special or expensive piece of jewelry that leaves you feeling empty and bare. Permanent jewelry is often a necklace, anklet or bracelet that's applied to the wearer without a clasp, and is sealed together, forever, with a micro-welding machine. Once applied, the jewelry can only be removed by cutting it off.

The Experience
Offer your customer a unique and lasting experience - in less time than a manicure.

Clients can relax across from a permanent jewelry expert (that's you) - sip bubbly, choose their chain and charms - and have a custom bracelet, necklace or anklet tailor fit and welded on with a delightful, painless spark. In 10-15 minutes customers can leave feeling fashionably adorned with a personal, forever momento - and a reminder of your outstanding care.

What is permanent jewelry and how does it work?

Permanent jewelry is a bracelet, anklet, or necklace that is custom-fitted and welded together without a clasp. The process uses a safe, quick micro-welding technique to create a seamless piece that’s designed to be worn every day. Many businesses add permanent jewelry as a service because it creates a unique, personalized experience for customers while generating high-profit margins.

How much does it cost to start a permanent jewelry business?

The startup costs for a permanent jewelry business typically range from $2,500–$10,000, depending on the equipment, materials, and training you choose. Essential expenses include a permanent jewelry welding machine, chains and charms, safety equipment, and training. Many entrepreneurs start small with a starter kit and scale up as demand grows, making it a low-barrier, high-reward revenue stream.

Is permanent jewelry safe for customers?

Yes—when done correctly, permanent jewelry is completely safe. The welding process uses a small, precise arc of heat that never touches the skin. With proper training and safety practices, permanent jewelry can be offered in salons, boutiques, spas, and pop-up events without risk. Customers can enjoy the convenience of a clasp-free piece that can be easily removed by cutting the chain if needed.

How much profit can a permanent jewelry business make?

Permanent jewelry has some of the highest profit margins in the beauty and boutique industry, often ranging from 70–90%. For example, a bracelet that costs $10–$15 in materials can sell for $60–$100 or more, depending on location and chain type. Many businesses report making $500–$2,000 in a single event by offering permanent jewelry as a premium add-on service.

Do I need training to start offering permanent jewelry?

While a license is not required in most states, training is highly recommended to ensure safe welding practices, proper chain selection, and the best customer experience. Many suppliers and industry experts offer permanent jewelry training courses that include machine setup, safety protocols, and business tips. Starting with professional training helps you feel confident and ensures your clients leave happy with their new jewelry.

What do I need to start offering permanent jewelry?

At minimum, you’ll need a welding machine, jewelry tools and materials (included in our kits), and a clean/safe workspace. We'll walk you through the rest.

Do I need experience with welding or jewelry?

Not at all. Our kits come with step-by-step training and resources. Most of our customers start with no background in jewelry or welding.

Can I just get the kit now and the welding machine later?

Yes — many customers order the kit first and get help choosing the right machine after. We’re happy to support you as you go.

Can I really make money with this?

Yes. Permanent jewelry is high-margin and low-overhead. Many of our customers earn back their investment in just a few events or pop-ups.

Can I get help if I have questions?

Always. We're here to support you with real advice, not just a checkout button. Hit “Contact Us” anytime and we’ll help.

What are the advantages?

Permanent jewelry has a few great advantages when it comes to inventory –

  1. It's easy to make room for permanent jewelry. A minimum 6'x6' space is recommended to setup a flat, stable working surface to place the welding machine and allow clients to sit across from staff. We recommend utilize your waiting area or any area that isn't directly contributing to your revenue.
  2. Jewelry doesn’t expire!
  3. Shipping from suppliers is inexpensive due to light supplies weight and small packaging.
  4. Lead times from PJS are short and ordering is a breeze – freeing up your cash for other investments until it’s time to re-order.

Jewelry offerings can be catered to your clientele. Carry a variety of chains and charms or stick to your best movers! PJS specially curates its collection for the most popular styles that are best for permanent jewelry - saving you time searching for the right products.

Be sure to check that your insurance provider covers fine jewelry inventory. A separate Jewelers Block policy may be needed.

Do I need a license?

There are currently no mandatory safety regulations, certifications or licenses required to offer permanent jewelry services. Permanent jewelry, when done correctly, is safe - however, there are risks associated with the use of a micro-welding machine (a.k.a. welder). The quality of your welding machine can affect its safety performance. All welders supplied by PJS have completed rigorous safety testing
